People frequently say to me, “Todd, after 20+ years, you’ve probably seen EVERYTHING by now, right?” I always reply that this job is so unique and I am surprised quite often by things that I find during inspections. Today was a great example. This floor system in a room addition had quite an odd sound and feel when I walked on it. We got permission to pull the carpeting back and discovered that the subfloor is drywall. Needless to say – I have NEVER seen this one before! Drywall is not an acceptable material for use as a subfloor and the list of reasons why is very long.
